UK Courses

Health/First Aid

Our Centre is fully equipped with first aid boxes located in the Residential accommodation and Rockley Point Sailing Centre offices. All our main safety boats carry a First Aid kit and a radio. All our Instructors hold a valid First Aid certificate and attend a health and safety induction when joining the Company.

Local Activities

Poole hosts numerous evening events on the Quay and on Sandbanks beach during the week throughout high season – the highlight being a firework display on a Thursday evening. If you would like advice on where to eat and drink during your stay in Poole, or what to see and do, please ask in the office or contact Poole Tourism. In early and late season some restaurants and local facilities may be closed and although mentioned in the brochure, cannot be guaranteed.

Rockleyessentials

Rockley Watersports has its own shop selling various sailing gear from boots, wetsuits and gloves to the Instructor Course essentials – whistles and a knife. We also sell a range of Rockley Watersports/Animal T-shirts and baseball caps. A range of goods can also be bought online. Visit our website: www.rockleywatersports.com

What to Wear

You will need PLENTY of old clothes - as sailing can be a damp sport! Bring shorts and T-shirts for warmer days and tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts for colder days. A pair of old trainers or deck shoes are also recommended.

Brochure Accuracy

The Rockley Point Sailing Centre brochure is prepared some months in advance. Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the facts contained in the brochure. Circumstances may arise however where certain particulars have to be modified. In these circumstances the Company will make every effort to provide suitable alternatives but will not be held liable for changes made by outside influences.

Facilities

As we share this part of Poole with the Caravan Park, their customers and local residents, Rockley Watersports asks you, as our customers, to respect the other users of Rockley Lodge, the Caravan Park and its facilities. Should you wish to have access to any of the Rockley Park facilities you will need to have a pass which can be obtained at the Rockley Park reception. For further details, call 01202 679669. Please note that certain facilities will not be available out of high season (which is July and August) when the park will be quieter.

Car Parking

The car parking area is owned and administered by Rockley Park and not ourselves. Charges are made for car parking (half price if you say you are with us) and do not apply if you are simply picking up or dropping off.

Centre Rules

For the safety and comfort of all our students and staff we have a number of rules for the Sailing Centre and residential accommodation. These include:

NO SMOKING anywhere around the centre or accommodation.
NO EATING OR DRINKING in the bedrooms.
NO TAMPERING with the FIRE/SMOKE alarms.

Rooms to be kept tidy – please use the shelves and underbed storage boxes for your belongings. Things left lying around may be thrown away.

Food and Drink

Inclusive in the residential option are three meals per day. Snacks and drinks are available at the Rockley shop during designated opening times. For those of you who are not staying with us and have not ordered lunches, Rockley Park has its own convenience store and there is also a small shop based on the beach for snacks and drinks. These facilities may not be available very late or early on in the season and opening times may be restricted.

Sleeping Bag and Pillow

For those who are staying in our residential accommodation we do not provide linen therefore you must bring a sleeping bag and pillow with you.
