    Rockley Adventure Awards Youth Sailors at the National Schools Regatta

    The 2010 National Schools Regatta was held at the Datchett Water Sailing Club from 18th- 23rd July. Over 300 young sailors arrived with 250 boats to race on the Queen Mother reservoir for the week. 36 school teams from across the country raced in Laser, Topper and Laser Radial fleets. The event has a strong emphasis on the younger children and progressing the youth of the sport, with this year’s event including 50 rookie entrants.     Rockley's JuJu Travels to Sweden

    The J24 World Championship regatta is due to take place from Monday 16th to Friday 20th August, in Malmo, Sweden. 55 boats from countries all over the world, from as far afield as the USA, Argentina, Japan, Italy and many more have entered the 5 day event. Rockley Watersports’s Operations Director, Rob Clark has worked tirelessly on JuJu the Rockley J24, to have her competition ready for the world’s. Rob is joined by Richard Howard, Rockley’s Schools Manager and crew to compete in the two races per day out on the Oresund Strait. The weather is looking promising for the week ahead and JuJu will be one of the 9 GBR boats competing in the regatta for the world champions title. Look out for sail number GBR 4254!     Watersports World Record Challenge

    Guy Cribb, world renowned windsurfer and instructor has completed a world record challenge for the most watersports attempted in one day. This challenge was in association with Poole and Bournemouth Tourism's Coast with the Most and took place on Monday June 21st, the longest day of the year. Guy and his team started the day off at 6am on Boscombe pier for an early morning session of surfing, body boarding and stand up paddleboarding. The day was full of action and activities and by 5pm Guy's challenge bought him to Rockley in Poole Park where he took to a swan pedalo and drove a new Mini Port tug with his two sons.     Henri Lloyd Mentor scheme, The final stage winners!

    Following the launch of the 2010 Henri Lloyd Mentor Scheme, the finalists have now reached the 3rd and final stage of selection. For the final stage of selection, the finalists have to film themselves replicating sailing footage from Henri Lloyd Ambassador Ben Ainslie, and we look forward to receiving this exciting footage! The finalists are now at the final stage of winning the fantastic prize, of £500 each to go towards their sailing costs and £350 worth of Henri Lloyd products, plus the opportunity to experience a day in the life of Ben Ainslie CBE and TEAMORIGIN. HERE are the finalists: UNDER 13 Arthur Brown from Burham on Crouch, Benjamin Marstaller from Mylor Bridge, Grace Rebekah Bradley-Shanker from London. UNDER 16 Alex Corby from Blacmore, Christopher Brewer from Poole and Thomas Williams from Marford are among the winners.     Mini Port Comes to the Park

    Peter Gordon, Rockley MD and David Ritchie, Nautikidz MD have joined forces to bring something very new and exciting to Poole Park. Some of you may have seen last Saturday’s edition of the Daily Echo and may have thought your eyes were deceiving you. No, the Barfleur has not returned to Poole but a very similar and smaller version can now be seen in Poole Park thanks to Rockley Watersports. These amazing, hand-made, battery-powered mini boats are the very first of its kind in the UK and are now available to all at the Rockley centre in Poole Park. There are six of the new Mini Port boats; a fishing trawler, fire boat, ferry and 3 tug boats that can be driven and navigated around the lighthouse, island and light ship out on Poole Park lake.
