Answer: You are required to have a full 10-year (<16yrs full 5 year) passport in order to visit France and non-EU passport holders may require visas. Lost, stolen or new passports will take a minimum of 2 weeks to replace. It is your responsibility to have the correct documentation for travel. www.passport.gov.uk
Information regarding health matters can be obtained from the Department of Health Leaflet – “Health Advice for Travellers” (T5) which is available from Post Office Counters, Travel Agents or the Department of Health. You must ensure you have adequate health insurance for travel. We recommend that you have an EHIC – European Health Insurance Card. Apply online at www.eu-healthcard.com
Answer: We recommend that you carry a small amount of Euros for when you arrive. Most major credit and debit cards are widely accepted in France.
Answer: Our Rockley Chalet Tents are available from 1800 on the Sunday of your arrival. Please aim to arrive at the campsite between 1800 and 2100 - a member of our staff will meet you. On arrival you will need to go to the campsite reception and obtain a barrier code. The campsite barriers are locked at 2300 - if you arrive after 2300, you will have to leave your car outside. You are requested to vacate your accommodation by 1000 on your day of departure.
Answer: Bordeaux Airport to La Reserve
• From Bordeaux airport follow signs onto the Rocade (A630) in the direction 'Arcachon/Bayone/Toulouse'
• Take exit 15 to merge onto the A63/E05/E70 towards 'Arcachon/Mont de Marsan/Bayonne' - this road becomes the N10
• Exit the N10 at junction 17 and follow signs towards 'Parentis en Born'
• On arriving in Parentis follow road until reach traffic lights then turn left signed 'Gastes / Mimizan' (D46)
• Follow road for approximately 3 miles then take right hand turn marked 'Gastes' (D652)
• On arriving at Gastes take second exit on roundabout then immediate left signed La Reserve
Answer: All special requests should be clearly noted at the time of booking. We will make every effort to comply with all special requests although they may be subject to availability. We need to know about any medication that you are taking or physical disabilities that you may have.
Answer: For students under 18 years of age we are authorised to act for the child according to our best judgement in any emergency situation requiring medical attention and to act in the place of the parents in an accident or other situation demanding an immediate decision.
Answer: A 3-day sailing course can be extended to a 5-day course, subject to availability, for a supplement of £100. We host a number of social events throughout your holiday for a small extra charge. These events can be arranged and paid for on arrival and will be subject to minimum numbers. No refunds will be given for extras booked and paid for but not used.
Answer: We try to be as accurate as possible with regards to the availability and opening times of the facilities available on the campsite. However, due to circumstances beyond our control i.e. weather, time of year, local regulations or demand, some facilities may not be available.
Answer: We ask that all our customers comply with the rules set out by La Reserve for the enjoyment of all our customers and other users of the campsite and its facilities.
Answer: La Reserve organises its own evening entertainment programmes, throughout the high season, such as cabaret performances and a disco, which is generally open until 1am. Daytime programmes including sporting activities can be booked at the campsite reception.
Answer: There are numerous restaurants situated in the smaller and larger nearby towns and villages that will allow you to sample the local french cuisine as well as discovering some beautiful places to visit and explore. For advice and recommendations, please ask any of the Rockley Watersports staff. We also recommend that you visit any of the local or regional festivals or events.
Answer: Our Rockley Chalet Tent accommodation sleeps up to 6 people. The tents are fully equipped for self-catering, including a Welcome Pack to keep you going until your first supermarket trip. Each Rockley Chalet tent has electric lighting and a shaver socket which requires a two-pin converter plug.
Answer: Linen packs can be hired for £15 per person per week, which includes a duvet, a duvet cover, a pillow and pillow cover, a bed sheet and a towel.
Answer: The campsite reception has safety deposit boxes for the safe keeping of your passport, money and any other valuables.
Answer: La Reserve has designated barbecue areas around the campsite.
Answer: Buoyancy aids are provided. We advise that you bring plenty of changes of clothing, as sailing can be a very wet sport! If you own any sailing gear we recommend that you bring that with you, otherwise we suggest you bring shorts and tee shirts as well as suitable footwear i.e. old trainers or wetsuit shoes. Answer: Our centre has first aid boxes. All our main safety boats carry a first aid kit and radio. All our instructors hold a valid First Aid certificate and attend a health and safety induction when joining the Company.
