Dinghy Senior Instructor (18+ years)
The 4-day course covers preparation and delivery of sessions, course and centre management, powerboat handling in a teaching environment, RYA Sailing Schemes and the role of a Senior Instructor. Students will be assessed on a continual basis. When running water-based simulated group management sessions, you will also be asked to demonstarte that you have sailing ability to pre-entry assessmnet standard.
In addition to successful completion of this course, to qualify as an Instructor, you MUST meet the following requirements:
- worked at least 2 seasons part time as an RYA Instructor or 1 season full time
- hold a Safety Boat certificate
- Hold a valid First Aid certificate
- have a recommendation from a Principal of a sailing school
Please note that a workbook must be completed prior to starting this course which you are able to download from the RYA website - www.rya.org.uk and you should have intimate knowledge of the Young Sailor and Adult RYA schemes.
