Dinghy Sailing Pre-Entry Assessment (16+ years)
Up to a year before taking the Dinghy Instructor course you are required to have passed a practical sailing test called the Pre-Entry Assessment. Through a series of sailing exercises this confirms your ability to sail competently and confidently.
We offer Pre-Entry Assessments over 1 day (Sunday). As there will be little or no time for practice it is recommended that you satisfy yourself that you can sail to the standard required and have the appropriate background knowledge.
We also offer a 2-day course (Saturday and Sunday) to enable you to hone your skills prior to taking the Pre-Entry Assessment should you be at all unsure that your sailing meets the required standard.
If you are unable to attend any of our scheduled Pre-Entry Training and Assessment weekends or Pre-Entry Assessment dates, these may be booked as Private Tuition. Please note that this course is compulsory for those attending thr RYA Dnghy Instructor Course. Failure to successfully complete the Pre-entry Assessment will mean that you will be ineligible to attend the Dinghy Instructor Course until such time as you are successful.
If you are unsure whether you will be able to obtain the qualification within the 1 or 2 days, then we strongly recommend that you consider the Pre Instructor Training Week.
