Instructor Preparation

This course is aimed specifically at candidates looking to looking to progress to RYA Dinghy Instructor level who already hold the RYA advanced sailing modules. The emphasis of the week is on getting you prepared for the Instructor course and the pre-entry assessment.

During the week you will be covering advanced sailing and the skills required for pre-entry assessment on the water and upgrading your theory and background knowledge off the water. The week will conclude on Friday with the pre-entry assessment.

Instructor Preparation Training Week (5 days)

During the instructor preparation course you will be covering advanced sailing and the skills required for pre-entry assessment on the water and upgrading your theory and background knowledge off the water. The emphasis of the week is on getting you prepared for both the Instructor course and the Pre-Entry Assessment.

Pre-Entry Training & Assessment (2 days)

Held over two days, we offer the first day as a training day to brush up on skills and familiarise yourself with the equipment and sailing area in preparation for the assessment on the second day.

Pre-Entry Assessment (1 day)

Sailing skills such as man overboard, sailing tight circles, sailing a triangular course and sailing a follow-my-leader course will be assessed to advanced sailing level technique. Completion will enable the student to join the Instructor course. It is important that you satisfy yourself that you can sail to the required standard.

RYA First Aid

The principles of first aid with the emphasis on working in a water-based environment. Valid for 3 years and recognised for all RYA Instructor qualifications.
